Hello! My name is Maya Madera, I’m 24 years old and I was born and raised in Renton, WA. In 2010, when I was 13 years old, I started feeling sick in April of that year. My mom took me to the doctor in July and they realized I lost all kidney function. I was then diagnosed with ANCA Positive Vasculitis, and was in End Stage Renal Disease. I was put on dialysis until my first transplant in August 2011. I was blessed to finally have my life back, until a medical mishap, and I lost that transplant in 2014. It was removed shortly after. I was immediately placed back on dialysis until 2017, when I received my 2nd kidney transplant in March! Later that year, I received a letter from my donor’s father. I had the opportunity to meet him, and his wife, along with the woman who received his liver! Thank you for this opportunity to share my testimony, and for all that you do to support organ transplantation!
